The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) yesterday awarded $2.3 million to the Los Angeles Regional Broadband Consortium. SCDC, one of five partners of the Consortium, will promote and expand broadband deployment, access and adoption throughout Los Angeles County over the next three years. SCDC will partner with Youth Policy Institute, Manchester Community Technologies, El Monte Union High School District, and Community Centers, Inc.
From this grant, SCDC will receive $134,000 per year for the next three years, a total of $402,000. SCDC will expand its digital literacy program from 8 southeast cities to over 28 cities within the Gateway area (from Long Beach to Whittier, from La Mirada to South Central)
