Welcome to the official home of the SCDC Robotics Teams
We are SCDC’s CYBER-ASTRONAUTS, a robotics club for kids who are interested in engineering and coding. Our robotics club participates in the annual FIRST LEGO League Challenge (FLL Challenge) as well as the FIRST TECH Challenge (FTC).
These club member get familiarized with the LEGO EV3 and LEGO SPIKE Robots. As well as design and build robots, raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach to earn specific awards.

How much does it cost to be part of the team?
Nothing! There is no cost in order for your child to join any of our robotics team!
Does my child need to know about robotics to join?
NO! It is not a requirement for your child to know about robotics to be apart of the team for it is a learning experience.
However, it would be a bonus if they know a little bit of code whether it be blockcode (like Scratch or code.org) or have experience working as part of a team!
Do the FTC CYBER-NAUTS have their own page?
Is there an age limit for FLL?
YES! Children who sign up for our LEGO League team need to be between the ages of 9-15. The only exemption if your child isn’t older than 9 years old is if they are in the 4th grade!
When do the students meet?
The students meet up twice a week for 2 hours afterschool at the Bell Tech Center. They also have open labs on Fridays where they can either work on their code or do homework before the weekend!
When are the competitions for FLL?
Competitions for FLL are all-day events that can start as early as 6AM and may end until 5PM. They usual land on Saturdays and Sundays.
Depending on how well the team performs during their qualifying competition in November, they may go onto regionals or they will participate in the off-season competition in the following Spring.
When are the competitions for FTC?
Similar to physical sports, our FTC team goes to four robotics meets (including 1 practice meet) on Saturdays to secure their ranking for the actual Inter-League Tournament that occurs during Spring.
These meets are once a month from 7:30AM to 12PM in Carson.
How can I support the teams?
